Things F has been doing:

Some number stuff in an activity book - she's recently developed a bit of a thing for these - I suppose they are workbooks really but none of us call them that. She has a number/maths one and a reading comprehension one and most days at some point she will pick one up and do some stuff, either on her own or with me or J. So she's recently done a couple of reading comprehension things, some odd/even number stuff, symmetry, solid shapes, counting in 3s and 5s, measuring and estimating lengths and some basic addition and subtraction sums.

Making LittleBigPlanet levels - today's was really quite complex. Sadly I'm a bit crap at playing them, but I do have a go with her on 2-player. I think that game is great for the sandbox element, lovely to be able to just create things like that. She really gets her concentration head on when she's doing that.

Watching Doctor Who, old and new episodes including some 6th, 7th and 8th Doctor, plus the Peter Cushing film that was on one afternoon with the Daleks in London.

Talking about different types of music, initially in relation to her Pixel Chix 'roomies' who all like different styles of music (strange list: punk, hip hop, classical, pop, techno and 'vogue'). F was doing different sorts of dancing for each type. Then I played her some of each type on YouTube too. We talked about the differences and how they make you feel.

Reading Rainbow Fairies books, as she got a complete set of the 7 Petal Fairies ones for Xmas. She has brief flurries of reading books at the moment, then not bothering for a few days or more. Her reading is very good now though, she reads her Dr Who comic, and loads of 'functional' reading. If reading aloud, she will tend to rush over a word she's not sure of, but if asked to go back and try she usually gets it. She has written a few messages as part of her LBP level making.

Talking about ages and years of birth and related stuff, in connection with Dr Who - Bernard Cribbins was in the 1965 film and of course in the recent series but 43 years older, so talked about that. She also always refers to D and S of the MTs when talking about age and birthdays, as every year there is a point where her age is suddenly the same year number as D, but then he has his birthday and then S has hers - F really likes that the 3 numbers go in order with her in the middle and often refers to it.

Talking about plans for holidays this year - she would like to go to Cornwall again, maybe go round the coast to different places and see lots of beautiful flower gardens and similar

Other things - she asked about atomic clocks (again in relation to Dr Who!), so I looked them up and tried to explain. She has done lots of looking after the kittens - brushing, feeding, helping with litter. She had Dozy Mog impersonating a dalek in his own inimitable style, very funny! She took a phone call from my mum and arranged her next visit while I was in the bath, very competently.

I started working again yesterday after 2 weeks off, have been asked to quote on a really huge job and would love to get it. In the meantime, there seems to be plenty of work around though. We've had a very at-home week here, easing into the year, partly because next week looks rather busy.
