Elderflower Fields Festival, Anniversary Meal

I have had lots of work, hence the behindage with blogging.

When not working I have been to:
Elderflower Fields Festival
With a new tent (Vango Genesis) and an inflatable sofa. I felt the site was not as good as last year at Bentley - a long linear layout on a hillside meant everyone did a lot of trudging up and down, not great fun for people who had to get things several times a day or take toddlers back and forth, in particular. At Bentley the layout was more compact around central main stage field, with very picturesque woodland area. Also signs of just being bigger and more commercial, less family-friendly and gentle, somehow. Had some good bits though. Think the children all enjoyed it, we were with C, K and co. and with A and co. too.

The best thing about it is that the children all get to wander off and explore and be self-determining for long periods of time in a big space, with woodland and food stalls and all sorts. Freya did kayaking and sports camp and went on the climbing wall.
Last year it was so cold I spent hours in the night just shivering and not managing to sleep but it was easier this year in terms of temperature, though sleeping pitched on a slope had its own challenges.

Cinema and Thai restaurant with J and Freya, to celebrate J's and my 20-year anniversary!
At the cinema we saw the new X-men film, which was a proper good adventure with time travel and a bit of humour and style, enjoyed it. And Thai food at Sabai Thai was just the most delicious thing. We have hardly had any Thai food in the last 10 years or more, but both love it, so that was a great treat. We had all the nibbly little starter bits and Tom Yum soup and I had the most beautiful red curry. All vegan and marked vegan in the menu, very helpful.

Other than that, Freya has been to the usual things, including a batik workshop at Friday Club apart from those that are paused at the moment for half term or other reasons. We have been talking about GCSEs here.
We haven't had her LAMDA exam result sheet/certificate thing yet, but have heard that she passed with Merit again, so that's good.
She went to the dress rehearsal for the dance show she is in - they are having to do last-minute changes, which is really annoying after all the work they have put in.
J put up 3 long shelves on Freya's bedroom wall, while he was off work, need to move everything back now, but had too much work since.
We all had a horrible D&V bug the week before the festival, was very grim.
