1 week till we get our kittens!
Yesterday, F wanted 'to do making, baking and going to the park'! So we did, though we didn't start till about 2pm. Park first, only for an hour as it was cold and, actually, once she got there she wasn't sure she wanted to be. We played hide and seek briefly, she went on roundabout and slide. Went to the shop as I was after the Christmas Radio Times, but it wasn't in yet.
When we came back, we made a vegan lemon and choc chip cake - F did a lot of the measuring, sifting and mixing, with my help, and did really well. J joined in and gave it a final stir too. It turned out really well, would definitely use that basic recipe again, although I did only follow it a bit vaguely!
After that, F chose a soapmaking kit to do, which didn't really involve doing much. There are a lot of kits around that seem to involve making soap out of soap or making paper out of paper, LOL. Not quite logical somehow. But you get to add colour and fragrance and pour melted soap into a soap mould and remake it as soap... So we made 2 small red soaps, one a nice shell shape and one a dolphin.
As the soap was setting, our guest arrived, Jack, staying for the night. So we watched some telly and drank wine and had Chinese. F had spaghetti and toast and stayed up till about half nine. After she went up we watched a film, The Man from Earth, which had a very promising idea but didn't go with it enough.
Today we had a leisurely sitting around kind of morning all playing the Barbie Wild Horse XBox game under F's management. Jack went off at 10ish. I had a long hot bath, which was one of those really blissful ones, much wanted, with the end of a good book and plenty of bubbles.
Not much else today - J and F burnt some cardboard, I rang the kitten people to check various things. We watched Miracle on 34th Street and that made us start to feel very Christmassy and then right at the end, we had carolsingers, so even more so.
