Also Quick Monday Blog

F got up at about half 7 or 8-ish, went downstairs, put the XBox on and maybe played a bit, then came back up and got into our bed and snoozed for another hour or so.
The morning meandered by in a haze of LeapGlobe and pootling. Then we went over to Katya's house. F played reasonably well with Ria and Belle, including some time out in the garden where there was plenty of running around and a bit of climbing and some football. I had a nice chat with Katya, who is planning her future, probably going into teaching but not entirely enthusiastic for various good reasons. Her heart is really in boot sales, auctions, ebay and her weekly stint in the antique shop with jewellery. Iona arrived with her two just before we left, so socialization is well and truly ticked.

I am still not working - ain't it great!? And do have a job coming up for Friday deadline but am determined not to start it till Wednesday!

I don't think F's boots are entirely comfortable and so think I might try and get her some more. Her physio agreed footwear at this stage really does have to be as good as it possibly can be, so I think I want to give her a good choice of shoes. It would be ideal if she had some trainers, some wellies, some canvas shoes and some walking boots. But at least aim for two or three out of those.
Off to writing group soonish - my homework was rushed out at 3 in the morning last week, so not really very pleased with it. Still that's the kind of practice I need.

(after writing group)
Homework not bad at all for 3am work, apparently!

Forgot to blog earlier that on the walk up the hill to Katya's, we were talking about shadows. If, as a teacher, you had to construct a lesson plan for this educational activity it would have gone like this:
Ask the child to conceptualize his/her shadow as an imaginary sibling and use this context to discuss shade, light, sun, colours, angles and seasons in the context of the appearance and disappearance of this fictional entity as the child is in motion, and further consider what happens as the child turns corners, shakes parts of body, speeds up, slows down, etc. Encourage the child to consider changes in colours of the ground and other objects (grass, flowers, road, pavement, fence, etc.) under the condition of the presence of this character and discuss the concepts of darker, lighter, colour and tone. Go on to discuss potential consequences of imaginary sibling 'walking' on small spring flowers in grass verge. Encourage child to consider whether imaginary sibling's actions are harmful to the flowers or not and why. Compare with same actions if undertaken by a real child. Draw any conclusions and have a giggle while doing so.
Unlikely to appear in exactly this form in the curriculum, isn't it? But that was the lesson, as led by the child. Imagine trying that with 30 though!

Tomorrow we go to a new activity in morning at 10am - that will take some doing, especially as a friend should be coming round straight after, and I ought to hoover before she does, as her youngest is likely to find bits of something and put them in his mouth.

Blimey you're busy. Hope you're finding time for eating Cheezely ;-) We had shadows ed today but not quite so imaginative as yours!

Hi - yes, a very busy week here. Shadows ed was imaginative but then I don't think yours need to invent siblings do they? They're rather well sorted in that dept.
J had the day off so he took charge of the grater and ensured provision of steady supply of Cheezly, thank goodness.

Have you tried Young Explorers for walking boots? We use them for P. And for Allie, as it happens!
