A few things I forgot from the last week or so:
F looked at the geomag balls sitting in the box and commented on 9 being a square number and then worked out 2 x 3 x 3 geomag balls being 18.
She asked about the differences between alligators and crocodiles so I googled (I didn't know! - shameful huh?) and looked at some pictures on the Internet and talked about them
She copied lots of words from Look and Read one day, getting me to pause the programme and we talked about similarities between how some were written, relating it to similarities in their sounds. She's showing quite a bit of interest in all that at the moment. Had a few conversations about rhyming words and words with the same written ending recently.
Had a conversation about chickens, hens and roosters and eggs. Not sure if that was very educational and nor was the one where she suggested I should get Nic and a few other friends together in a pink car and sing the Sheila's Wheels ad song.
She spent a long time watching a lot of the bonus features on The Little Mermaid, including commentaries and the 'ride', plus The Little Match Girl, stuff about different versions of The Little Mermaid story, Hans Christian Andersen and different sea creatures.
She then drew lots of the characters from the film, cut them out and had me help her to stick them on the wall around her bed.
She also drew a complicated picture showing me going on the 'ride' (a virtual ride feature on the DVD), with all the different areas. She talked me through it, it was great, lot of thought and detail in it.
She has since drawn Cinderella, her stepsisters and stepmother, who have been added to the wall display. Her cutting out improved as she did more and more of the characters. Then she made a really good slot book of The Little Mermaid, planning it carefully, having a little artistic temperament strop when she did a bit wrong and then recovering to finish it beautifully.
We did loads of 'Shaun the Sheep' story writing one evening and a bit more most days. The chapters are each an episode of the programme retold usually through the baby lamb's eyes with a few additions/interpretations.
We watched Sharkboy and Lavagirl a few times too, she really likes that film at the moment.
Today I've been out and about on my own, viewing a house next door to a windmill and picking up my new purple glasses. House not so special, glasses very lovely. Brighton on a Saturday hellish.

lol - one of my two (not sure which one now) suggested me and friends did the Sheila's Wheels thing too!
Wanna come and see our eggs then to add the educational (eggucational?) slant - they are due to hatch next weekend.

Oh yes Nic, we would love to see the eggs. Might depend how much improvement there is in the foot of doom though.
Yes Allie she's been quite a whirlwind lately.
