Yesterday - lovely though somewhat bittersweet pub lunch out with E and others. Was glad Nic was there as she stopped me feeling quite so wobbly. Nuff said really. Just a lovely idea and it was a privilege to be there.
Today - F and I went swimming at our local pool and had a great time. Firstly because F was very helpful and mature, so carried our bag most of the way there and back, did the putting stuff in the locker job and got changed herself without requiring much from me. Secondly because she ditched her armbands about 15 mins after we got in and started really trying to swim without and finally found a stroke that works for her (between doggy paddle and crawl in the end). So once she had found that, she soon went from 2 strokes and sinking/grabbing to 5 strokes and panic and then 21 strokes by the end. The width of the shallow pool. Noticed that she was managing to do pretty much the same with difficult arm as with left arm, so that must be good. Difficult leg has no idea what to do yet, but that will come eventually I should think, now arms are doing good things. So very hoorah indeed! And much grinning and counting and practising. She got all 'autonomous learner' on me again and told me exactly where to stand and how to hold my arm for her to swim to, etc. And she was all focused and had that determined look that she had when she originally learnt to swim with the armbands, which is not far off 18 months ago now - the holiday with a pool that we had, in Devon, straight after the Not Back to School Picnics. All of which makes me want another holiday with a pool... But recession says 'NOOOO'. I can wait...
On the walk back, we popped into local shop and got Chaula's curry dishes for dinner, plus F bought another Sackfigure, this one was the Spanish Sackgirl. Worked out that she has two thirds of all of them, also two thirds of male and two thirds of female figures.
F walked on the wall by the park, which she hasn't done for a while - lots of signs of more confidence like that lately. Confidence not quite the right word, but something like it, would maybe say 'faith in own physical ability and/or acceptance of risk' as part of it.
Back home I did a chore that I'd wanted to do since before Christmas, which felt good, though relies on me completing it tomorrow morning. And we ate our curry and watched DS9 - we are rushing through season 6 as it has a lot of continuation episodes, what with the war and all. Has been great so far.
Snuggled with F watching some iplayer stuff and planning things for next few weeks, vaguely, then tucked her in at a reasonable time.
Trying to remember actual conversations, we've chatted loads today whilst walking to pool and back and whilst in pool. Nope, can't.
