Tuesday F got to use some proper acrylic paint. My mum does quite a bit of painting and has a room set aside as a studio space and F went in with her and had a wonderful time painting on canvas boards. She really got into it - when I popped in, she had her 'really concentrating' expression on. She experimented with the palette knife too. Some beautiful results. Her first one eventually went down that familiarly muddy route, but the second one kept plenty of colour integrity. She really covered the entire canvas well too. As she was painting she talked about how 'delicious' the paints/colours were.
She also spent a lot of time arranging and rearranging my mum's animal ornaments (mainly highly breakable china cats) and got into sorting them by size, material, gender (as assigned by her - they all had names too by the end of our stay). She was so careful with them - another thing that has changed over the last 4 months I think. She was moving them around so much, from mantelpiece to hearth and back, and didn't do a single bit of damage. Well done F!
She played in the garden a bit too, and she and mum disappeared up the road at some point without telling me, which freaked me out completely.
Also part of Tuesday were: more hopscotch, including looking at the colour sequences of the pieces; more vegan chocolate cake; Basil the Mouse Detective; me pulling an all-nighter prior to my Wednesday deadline. Mum read lots of bedtime stories to F as she had the night before, although bedtime did come back from midnight to 10-ish I think.
