A whizzed-by week

OK rewind rewind rewind, oh yes, Saturday off we went to my mum's for a pre-Xmas Xmas. We were there till Tuesday and had a lovely time - thanks Mum!
While we were there, F painted a china set - mug, plate, egg cup and bowl, really nice. She used lots of swirling colours all over and it looks gorgeous. The illustration on the box shows the same basic white set decorated with just a few spaced-out stars of different colours around the edges and the name 'Emily' written on the mug, so the term 'emily craft' is henceforth to be used to cover the sort of very anxious inhibited neat craft done by a child who is entirely concerned with creating something that her parents and other equally repressed adults will recognize as acceptable display material, as opposed to getting engaged in the creative process. We imagined Emily's mother hovering over her, letting out little gasps of horror as Emily nearly let her red brush go in the blue paint, or painted a yellow star 2mm too far to the right, etc. "Emily, you need a green one next or the pattern will be spoilt", etc.
F also did some painting with acrylic paint on canvas and we all did a 'crystal mining' kit together, which gave me the chance to bash a brick of sandstone with a plastic hammer for an hour or so. It was a good kit, generous with the crystals and plenty of information for older children. F enjoyed picking out the crystals and looking at the colours of them. Mum and I joked about how I could talk it up on the blog with pictures of "F's geology lesson", with captions such as 'F identifying rose quartz with magnifying glass' etc.
F also watched Alice in Wonderland (1999 TV version, very good) and a few other things on video/telly. I got loads of work done, which was necessary, just managed to finish it yesterday so now am officially on Xmas break.
F and I shared a bed and she had a bit of a cold/cough and was a bit restless a couple of nights. Also she whispered a lot while dreaming which was very cute.
On Sunday we had our Xmas at mum's and opened prezzies. F was totally thrilled with the Princess Alexa doll. She wanted it last year but I wanted to wait and see if she was still interested this year. She was, so there we go. So she played a lot with her too.
J came over to mum's on Tuesday and we all travelled back together on the train.
Yesterday we went to the panto in Hastings - Cinderella. Met J's mum at the station and all four of us joined in with the singing, shouting, etc. F has got the idea now! The show was carried by a very good Buttons, Jamie Wilson, hadn't heard of him but he had panto performance off to a fine art. Afterwards we had a meal out, of the chilli, chips and garlic bread type, then went home. Although I had planned to go to a friend's Open House, F still has the cold/cough and it was a very cold evening. I had been up till gone 3 the night before too, working, so we opted for home and the fire on full blast.
Having finished the last few bits of work, I'm looking forward to some relaxing evenings ahead.
Today we're going to Waitrose, going to buy whatever we fancy, assuming they have any food left at all.
I am way behind with cards and prezzies but still intending to do them all since I think of Xmas lasting for at least a week anyway so they won't really be late, will they?
