Morning - F managed to find/hatch a Dragonache in Viva Pinata, so that was exciting. Unfortunately she accidentally clicked on the 'send it away' option and lost it before I saw it. So then we talked about what she thought she had done and whether we could find any way of getting it back. Googled and then looked on YouTube at clips of Dragonaches in action. Later in the day she did manage to get another one.
Then she filled an ice-cube tray with soya milk and put it in the freezer. Oh, at some point she made a book out of little pictures of ponies from a leaflet.
More Viva Pinata - talked about the spelling of Doenut and analysed various other pinata names to work out the candy element and the animal. She did various sums to work out how much money she needed and how much she would have if she did things. I was helping with some of those.
Had to have one of those talks about how we need to be a team and sometimes that means helping me to do my work by getting on with something instead of trying deliberately to disrupt me. Most of the time she is fine but once in a while a conversation of this type is needed.
In early afternoon we headed up (saw a slow worm on the way and talked about that and also did a bit of map reading) to local home-ed friends C, E and M, where we stayed for a couple of hours and the girls all played very nicely (for the last 40 minutes!). The dynamic just wouldn't settle so there was lots of fretfulness and friction and hoo-ha and me and C pulling faces at each other and trying to help and all that stuff. But in the end they bonded over the sheer dangerous delight of sitting on the roof of the shed together. Always a winner, the danger! C and I hovered nearby trying to appear nonchalant as they discussed which of us was worried about which of them (both of us were actually concerned about all of them). So it all ended happily.
I think in the long-term F and E will very likely get on well - they have quite a lot of similarities, including being scathing to me and C in similar ways at times. All 3 girls have strong personalities. C kindly gave us a lift back home so we could save our legs for our evening activity - a walk with Woodcraft Folk. F did lots of waving off and running along by the car.
Back home, we were just getting ready to walk up to the corner for meeting the group when J came home and was able to come too. So we set off first and met up with him after he had sorted himself out a bit. It was a smaller group than last week, but nevertheless a nice walk up on the lower reaches of the Downs - actually a walk we have done quite a lot. This is the first time we have done it this year and I really noticed F is much faster again. Walks with her are a lot easier than 18 months ago. I was in 'sensible grown-up' role and took water, 2 bananas, a peanut butter sandwich and F's coat - all of which were very much appreciated at various stages! Quite nice to carry off that role now and then isn't it?
We saw rabbits, horses, sheep, another slow worm, some gorgeous pinkish red flowers and lots of beautiful views over the Downs. At the end of the walk we had a campfire in the very large wooded garden of a Woodcraft sympathizer. A pile of possible firewood had been supplied and we took just a little for a short fire - the kids had lots of goes at using A's sparking kit and eventually it got going beautifully. All very nice. Next week it's time for the planning meeting (pub) to decide what the group will do over coming weeks. We got a lift home in somebody's very large vehicle and ordered Chinese takeaway as soon as the phone would let us. F had pizza and also ate some of her milk-ice things, which she described as 'plain' and 'you know how ice doesn't taste of much?' Then all sat and watched Dr Bob telling us to send our kids out on bikes all day every day, etc. F fell asleep just as the children in the prog were off to bed. When I tucked her in just now I think I saw a page of writing that she seems to have done - hope to see more of that tomorrow. She did try and do a bit of reading earlier but got frustrated - the book she was attempting to read was too far ahead of her I think, but it's great that she just picked it up and tried on various pages.
