Bit more mobile and mixable

Yesterday:
F put all her My Secret Unicorn books in some mysterious order that I didn't really understand but that was very definitely logical in her view.
Dozy Mog (apparently aged 4) and his sister Fuzzy Mog (allegedly aged 12) had a row over who was cleanest/fluffiest.
She got me to discuss what 20 minutes meant in terms she might understand (Dora episode innit?) and then talked about 2 x 20 minutes and 3 x 20 minutes.
Then at some point we had a chat about monkeys, apes, primates - I had to refresh my memory about those terms using Google.
Had a few conversations whilst watching The Sound of Music - years since I've seen it all the way through. She asked a few questions, some of which were 'educational' (not the main one 'is it nearly the end yet?' though).
Can't remember much else about the day, tsk, must try harder. Oh I'm going to make a rug for her room and we talked a bit about designs for that.

Today:
Finally had N, D and S round again after what must be a heck of a long time. We've seen so little of other people, especially other children. And before the sprain there was only a week of activity and mingling after chicken pox kept us homebound for pretty much 2 weeks. And that's very much the kind of year it's been for us so far - have felt quite fed up with it the last week or so.
F didn't instantly adjust very well to the presence of other children in her domain, kicking off big time about S playing with ponies in her room on grounds of it all being arranged how she likes it, etc. So I administered varying proportions of cuddles, eye-rolling and rationalization until eventually she calmed down. She was still really needy though and sat on my lap all blotchily while I ate my (by now, cold) pasta. For once, N had a completely uninterrupted lunch by contrast. Spose it's only fair.
Eventually they did all play together - phew! Via a bit of drawing, crisp-eating, Rumble in the Jungle and Shaun the Sheep. Out into the garden they went and seemed fine for quite a long time at the end of the day.
F drew a 'handsome prince' at some point - her drawing has got slightly more detailed lately, or at least when she is in the mood.
N and I had a reasonable amount of chatting time between various parenting requirements, and wine and tea!
It was really nice to have people round, has been a slightly odd insular time on and off, the last couple of months especially, what with chicken pox, a virus and a sprain!
