Today F started the day playing in her room, with ponies, cats and DS in equal measure from what I heard.
Then she came down with cats and DS and showed me her current zoo, giving me a guided tour, with a sort of presentation that she had maybe practised, which turned into a series of songs about each exhibit that she seemed to be making up on the spot and included this bit about the lions: 'Bow down to his majesty, the king, the king of the jungle'. Her zoo is really not at all the modern model, seeming to have more space dedicated to fountains and statues than the poor elephants, lions and giraffes have managed to claim.
Next she brought down her jewellery box and gave me a sort of guided tour of all her treasures too. So we talked about the shapes, colours, materials, complexity, simplicity, design features, similarities and differences and which ones we liked best. After a while, however, Dozy Mog got involved and it got a bit chaotic.
After some toast and a bit of watching telly she brought in a blue plastic tray that was originally part of the Magic Sand set and we decided to fill it with water so that some of her ponies could have a paddle, which went well, at least the ponies seemed happy enough.
She made a My Little Pony book at some point, too, I'm not sure if it's finished, bits of it are all around the living-room.
She also watched a bit more telly, played a bit of XBox and DS, danced and sang along to The Levellers, let me give Dozy Mog a wash (he was seriously grubby) and did a bit on the Barbie and My Little Pony websites, then played Zoombinis briefly, before going up to her room again to play for a while.
We got into a conversation about a CBBC programme that she remembered but didn't know what it was called and she had to think of ways to get me to think which one it was. Eventually she came up with a good description of the main character and it rang a bell - Lizzie McGuire! She had said 'her name's Izzy'. I found a channel still showing it and set the Media Centre to record it, and F drew a good picture of Lizzie to celebrate it.
Dozy Mog (clean and pink-nosed again) and his sister decided to swap her ribbon onto him, so we did that and they tried to kid us they each were the other for a while.
At bedtime we finished The Secret Seven - she's not sure if she approves but did ask if there were other books - and then we looked at the jewellery again.
Hoping for a lovely relaxed long weekend, have cleared the decks of various niggling items and so should really be able to chill.
